The Boys Star Clears the Air on Gossip Girl’s Romance Rumors
Chance Crawford, the ‘golden boy’ of ‘Gossip Girl,’ is finally setting the record straight. During a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the 40-year-old actor opened up about his time on the hit CW teen drama and addressed one of the show’s longest-running off-screen rumors.
Crawford played Nate Archibald opposite Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. During the six-year run of the series, he was often seen as the perfect boyfriend on screen, but the reality was a bit different. “Yeah, there’s things that happen or connections that happen,” Crawford admitted before clarifying, “I never dated anyone on the show.”
While the set of ‘Gossip Girl’ did serve as a social hotspot, with guest stars and people in the orbit of the show, the star maintained his personal life was separate from work. “There’s a lot of guest stars and people in the orbit of the show that you’d meet through other friends even,” he explained.
The ‘Boys’ star also revealed some of his co-stars were indeed romantically involved during their time on set.
Blake Lively and Penn Badgley famously dated from 2007 to 2010, while Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan were together from 2008 to 2010. This adds a layer of complexity to the show’s storylines but doesn’t reflect Crawford’s personal life.
As for his own dating status, Crawford has reportedly been in a relationship with model Kelsey Merritt since last year. The actor seems pleased with his current partner and is happy to dispel any notions that he was romantically involved on the set of ‘Gossip Girl.’
Why It Matters
The rumors surrounding ‘Gossip Girl’ cast members were almost as exciting as the show itself. Fans often wondered about the real-life romances, given the star-studded cast and the intimate nature of the set. However, Crawford’s clarification is a reminder that sometimes, reality can be quite different from what we imagine on screen.
Inside the Set
The social dynamics on ‘Gossip Girl’ were complex. With so many talented actors and behind-the-scenes drama, it’s not surprising that there was a lot of interaction off-screen as well. However, Crawford’s experience seems to have been more professional than personal.
And so, the truth is out.
Chance Crawford never dated his ‘Gossip Girl’ co-stars. While the set might have been a social hub, it didn’t translate into romantic entanglements for him. The show remains a classic in teen drama history, and with this revelation, its storylines can continue to stand on their own.
