The Kirk Touchdown
Christian Kirk, an eight-year veteran wide receiver, has agreed to a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. This move comes on the heels of their acquisition of Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
Kirk’s career hasn’t been without its highs and lows. In his most productive years, he led the Arizona Cardinals with 77 catches for 982 yards in 2021 before a stellar 2022 campaign where he caught 84 passes for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns — all career highs.
However, his 2025 season with the Houston Texans was less than impressive.
In just 13 games, he managed only 28 catches for a mere 239 yards and one touchdown. Both the yardage and the touchdown were career lows, while even his catch count was one above his lowest mark.
Playoff Hero
Despite his struggles, Kirk shone in playoff action. In the Texans’ wild-card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he caught eight of nine targets for 144 yards and a touchdown, his first 100-yard game since 2023.
Yet, his performance declined when Nico Collins missed the divisional round game against the New England Patriots. Kirk finished with just two catches for 20 yards in this match, highlighting quarterback C.J. Stroud’s struggles as well.
