A Sudden Snag in Alabama
Rick Diamond, Getty Images shared on Facebook that “due to sudden illness, the artist was unable to complete tonight’s performance.” Fans were left stunned as Chesnutt, who had already canceled several shows due to health reasons, ended up cutting his performance short. He managed only three songs before calling it quits.
Health Issues Plague the Country Singer
The publicist for Mark Chesnutt provided a statement, explaining that “Mark has been fighting off a sinus infection. It was affecting his voice and he wasn’t able to continue the show.” This is just one of several health issues that have plagued the singer over recent years. In June 2024, he underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery due to heart problems, and in April 2025, he revealed a long-standing alcohol addiction.
Chesnutt’s Rescheduled Shows
Following his Alabama show, Chesnutt canceled or postponed two more shows: one in Augusta, Georgia on February 13, and another in Smithfield, North Carolina on February 14. The Smithfield venue rescheduled the performance for March 29.
Fans React with Concern
On the Facebook post about the canceled show, fans expressed both disappointment and understanding. “Even sick, he sounded better than some artists these days,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Praying for him to get better.” Despite his health struggles, Chesnutt continues to tour on his 2025 Redemption Tour with a full heart.
